Smart home for a 2BHK apartment: a room-by-room plan
Exactly what to put in the living room, two bedrooms, kitchen and entrance of a typical Indian 2BHK, and in what order.

Quick answer: A typical 2BHK needs about five panels: one each in the living room, master bedroom, second bedroom and kitchen, plus a Smart Lock at the entrance. Add two or three sensors and a curtain controller in the living room, and the flat is fully automated without a single new wire.
Entrance
Tixa Smart Lock with fingerprint, PIN and app access. Time-limited PINs for domestic help.
A door sensor so the app can tell you the door was left open.
A small TouchX at the door with a ‘Leaving’ and a ‘Home’ scene key.
Living room
TouchX 6- or 8-point panel: main lights, accent lights, fan, TV socket, and scene keys for ‘Movie’ and ‘Guests’.
Curtain or blind controller if the room has a large window.
A motion sensor so the hallway light comes on at night without a switch.
Master bedroom
TouchX at the door for main light, fan and a ‘Night’ scene that leaves only a lamp on.
Mosaic Pro at the bedside: lamp control, a 16A socket and a USB charger on one plate.
AC on a Tixa module so it can be scheduled and switched off from the app.
Second bedroom or study
A 4-point TouchX: light, fan, AC and a desk lamp.
A light sensor if it doubles as a study, so lights only come on when it is actually dark.
Kitchen
Mosaic Pro with switches for lights and chimney plus sockets for the counter.
Geyser or kettle on a module with a morning schedule.
Optional: a motion sensor for the under-cabinet light.
Order of installation
Living room first; it proves the system to the whole family.
Master bedroom second; this is where scenes and schedules pay off daily.
Entrance and lock third, once everyone trusts the app.
Kitchen and second bedroom last.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the full 2BHK take to install?
Usually one working day for all rooms, or an hour or two per room if you phase it.
Can I do this in a rented 2BHK?
Yes. All of it is retrofit. Keep the original switch plates and refit them when you leave.
Key takeaways
Five panels, one lock and a few sensors cover a 2BHK.
Living room first, kitchen last.
Everything retrofits into existing switch boxes.
