Preparing for Tixa smart lock installation
Prepare for professional Tixa smart lock installation with door measurements, fit checks, approved setup and a practical handover checklist.

Quick answer: Have a qualified installer check your door against the exact Tixa smart lock model before drilling, cutting or removing hardware. Door fit, alignment and the model’s approved installation procedure determine the work required.
1. Share the door details
Send Tixa photos of the door face, edge, existing lock and frame. Record material, thickness, opening direction and available clearance. Use the smart lock product page to discuss a suitable model.
2. Confirm fit and permission
The installer should check the existing cut-out, backset, frame position and door alignment against the model specification. Some doors need hardware or frame changes. In a rented property, obtain permission before modifying the door; restoration depends on the work done.
3. Follow the model instructions
The installer should use the supplied template and approved fixing procedure. A generic article cannot replace the model manual or establish a universal door-thickness range. Agree the work and price before irreversible cutting begins.
4. Set up approved access methods
With the door open, follow the exact model’s instructions for administrator setup and supported access methods. App pairing, gateways, temporary codes and access history vary by model. Use the current Tixa support guidance if a step is unclear.
5. Test before closing the door
Check operation, alignment, latch movement and each authorised access method. Test with the door open first, then check normal closed-door use with the installer present. Confirm the approved emergency-entry method before relying on the lock.
6. Complete the handover
Record the exact model and warranty/service contact.
Confirm battery type, warning method and replacement procedure.
Learn the approved backup or emergency-power procedure.
Remove temporary installer or test access as appropriate.
Keep private access credentials secure and tell authorised household members how to get help.
Installation time depends on door condition and required work. Read smart locks explained before comparing models.
Plan your next step
Use the Tixa room quotation builder to list your rooms and controls. Tixa will confirm the selected models, compatibility, current prices and installation scope before an order.
