Five routines worth setting up first

Five practical starter routines for supported lights, fans and appliances, with the compatibility checks needed before scheduling.

Morning light in a tidy bedroom

Quick answer: Start with one repeatable action you already perform each day. Test it manually, then add a supported schedule or trigger. These five ideas are planning examples, not functions included with every device.

1. Good morning

Turn on a chosen light or open a compatible curtain controller. Add gradual brightness only if the light, driver and dimmer support it. Follow the morning scene planning guide.

2. Bedtime

Group selected lights into an off scene while leaving a useful night light on. Test the routine from the bedside. Decide separately whether a fan should remain running.

3. Leaving home

Use a deliberate scene to turn off chosen non-essential circuits. Keep refrigerators, network equipment and other always-on loads out of the scene. Do not assume phone-location or “last person leaves” triggers are supported by your setup.

4. A timed appliance

For a suitable geyser control, ask the installer to confirm load rating and operating conditions before using a timer. Check where that timer runs and what happens after a power interruption. A schedule is not a replacement for the appliance’s own safety controls.

5. A convenient arrival light

Use a supported time trigger or compatible sensor to control a passage light. Check sensor placement and timeout before enabling it in a busy room. Sunset triggers and occupancy detection vary by model.

Keep the first routine easy to undo

Name it clearly, tell the household what it does and test the wall controls. Internet, local network and power failures affect devices differently. See the app guide, sensor options and offline-control FAQ for the next checks. Convenience and energy savings depend on actual use; there is no guaranteed reduction in bills.
