Smart home without rewiring: how retrofit works

You do not need to open the walls. Retrofit Pro modules sit behind the switches you already have and make them smart.

What a retrofit module is

A retrofit module is a small controller, about the size of a matchbox, that fits inside the switchboard behind the plate you already have. Your existing switches keep working exactly as before. The module adds a second way to control the same circuit: from the Tixa app, by voice, or on a schedule.

Where it fits

Retrofit Pro suits homes that are already finished, rentals where you cannot change the look of the walls, and offices that want automation without a shutdown. Most switchboards have enough depth. Your installer checks the board and wiring before anything is ordered.

What to expect on install day

A typical three-bedroom home takes a day. Power is off for a short while per room while each board is wired. Once a module is in, it is paired to your home in the app and labelled by room, so ‘Bedroom fan’ means the bedroom fan.

When to choose a panel instead

If you are building or renovating, a TouchX glass panel gives you the module plus a cleaner wall. Many homes mix both: panels in living areas, retrofit behind the scenes everywhere else.
